Your Next Steps: Future KCC Students 

Spring 2020 registration has not opened. You will receive an email from KCC closer to the beginning of your start term with your next steps.

Should you like to start KCC earlier, please contact Student Services at 815-802-8500 to modify your application
.

In the meantime, please review KCC's testing requirements. 

Some students may be eligible to waive (skip) the KCC placement exam because of past college-level coursework or test scores.

The following is a chart of sub-scores needed to opt-out of placement testing:

Your Next Steps: Fall 2019 Students

Fall 2019 Cav Days have closed, but it is not too late to register for Fall classes. 

Late registration for 16-week courses runs Saturday, August 17th from 10-2 PM and Monday, August 19th - Tuesday August 20th. In order to enroll as a new student, you must meet with a KCC academic advisor. Questions? Call Student Services at 815-802-8500.

8-week courses begin in October. New students should make an appointment to meet with an advisor by calling 815-802-8500. 

Next Steps: Early College and BBCHS College Now Students

You do not need to register for Cav Day. Your KCC Advisor will contact you, via email, with your next steps. Please check your email frequently. 

Next Steps: Visiting Students

All incoming, visiting students from other institutions must complete a Visiting Student form before registering for courses. After submitting, a KCC staff member will contact you within five business days.

Apprenticeship Students 

Students who have been accepted into a KCC-affiliated apprenticeship should contact their KCC Liaison for next steps.

Testing Placement Form

Please use this form to determine which placement tests (if any) you’ll be required to complete. If you have questions regarding placement testing, contact us directly at testing@kcc.edu or (815) 802-8500.


Finding your test scores:
Individual scores for the ACT and SAT can be accessed several places: 
  • Your high school transcripts
  • Your high school guidance office
  • By logging into the Collegeboard.org for the SAT or ACT.org for the ACT 

Results

Your SAT Math score is above 530. You do not need to take a Math placement exam unless you are wanting to enroll in Calculus.

Your SAT Math score is under 530. You will need to take a Math placement exam.

Your SAT Reading score is at or above 24. You do not need to take a Reading placement exam.

Your SAT Reading score is below 24. You will need to take a Reading placement exam.

Your Math score is 25 or higher. You will not need to take a Math placement test.

Your Math score is between 22-24. You will not need to take a Math placement test unless you are taking Calculus.

Test Scores and High School / College Transcripts
Submitting your test scores and transcripts to KCC:
If you plan on using your test scores to "opt out" of placement testing AND:
1.) You did not select KCC to receive your test score OR
2.) Your high school transcripts do not show your test scores
You must submit a copy of your scores to CavDay@kcc.edu prior to registering for courses.

You must also submit your high school transcripts and any college/university transcripts to CavDay@kcc.edu to be eligible to register for courses.

Step One: Complete Testing and/or Submit Scores

If you are not required to take any placement exams, be sure to submit your test scores or previous college and/or high school transcripts prior to your Cav Day. You may do so by emailing us at CavDay@kcc.edu
Step Two: Register for Your Cav Day!

Based on your responses, you are required to register for a Cav Day. 

Cav Day is a required on-campus registration experience for students. The goal is to provide and introduce our new students with the basic information needed to be successful as they transition to our community. In addition, students will learn in-depth information and guidelines surrounding their chosen academic program. This includes meeting with an academic advisor individually and registering for courses.

Please register for ONE Cav Day based on your program of study. You will find directions to register for your Cav Day on the confirmation page after you hit "Submit Your Form" below.
